YOU MUST BE REGISTERED TO BE ABLE TO VOTE
You are eligible to register to vote in Virginia if you are:
- A United States citizen
- At least 18 years old by the general election date
- A resident of Virginia
- Not registered and planning to vote in another state
- Not currently declared mentally incompetent by a court of law.
- If convicted of a felony, your right to vote has been restored
OBTAIN A VOTER REGISTRATION APPLICATION FORM FROM
- Virginia Department of Elections office or download a form from the Department's website. You may be eligible to register online on the Department's website. See http://elections.virginia.gov/
- Local voter registrars' offices
- Department of Motor Vehicle offices
- Government offices providing Aid to Dependent Children, Food Stamps, WIC, Medicaid, Rehabilitation Services, and services to persons with disabilities
- Armed forces recruitment offices
- Public libraries
- Voter registration drives
FILL IN THE APPLICATION FORM COMPLETELY and take it or mail it to the local registrar's office listed on the form
You should receive a Virginia voter registration card in the mail. If you do not receive your card, contact the local registrar to be sure your application was processed.
